Pair of antique pillowcases with embroidery and SN monogram
In my constant search for antique fabrics I sometimes come across real little treasures, as in this case.
Precious garments that tell us about another era, other lives, industrious hands that embroidered and sewed.
They were part of the dowry of bed and bath linen of young girls of other eras.
These two embroidered pillowcases are beautiful. Made from a beautiful medium weight loom woven cotton and richly embroidered.
They feature a beautiful central embroidery with a flower and leaf motif that overlooks the two initials SN embroidered in a beautiful cursive script.
On the short sides we find an embroidery that resembles a drawn thread.
Another detail is represented by the buttoning on one of the two short sides, closed by beautiful mother-of-pearl buttons.
The maximum usable size is 61x48cm.
The pillowcases have been carefully washed but I would like to point out that there may be small imperfections or signs of aging on these items, which I always prefer not to insist on too much, because they are very old and must be respected and loved for what they are. These are not defects but small testimonies of the age of these treasures that come from the past.
You can machine wash them on a gentle cycle or by hand, with mild soap. Air dry them and do not spin.
